Gerald Keith Dykes

August 20, 1929 - December 29, 2015

Gerald K "aka Jerry or Pat" Dykes was born in Deadwood (Village of Galena) , South Dakota on August 20, 1929 and died due to heart complications on December 29th, 2015. On August 20, 2015 he celebrated his 86th birthday. Jerry proudly served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in January, 1952. After leaving Western Electric he took a position with the Nike Missile System in Leavenworth, KS. Job training took him to Huntsville, AL where he met Lillian; they were married and blended their two families. Shortly after the family moved to Corpus Christi, TX where Jerry enjoyed working as a Civil Service Foreman at the Corpus Christi Army Depot repairing combat helicopters until retiring at age 55.

After retirement he and Lillian enjoyed the open road as full-time RV’ers; appreciating treasured time alone with nature. After years of travel, they settled in Rockport, TX where they loved fishing, bird watching & nature drives but Jerry’s favorite activity was watching the waves roll in on Aransas Bay through the living room window of their home. The decision to move to Katy, TX was a difficult one but they both wanted to be closer to family.

Jerry was the strong, silent type; not big on chit chat, so anything he said carried extra weight. He was highly intelligent; good with a cue stick and quite a card player. He valued his family and friends through the years but his most cherished friendship was with Lillian, his wife of 50+ years.

Jerry is survived by his Spouse, 1-Sister, 4-Children, 9-Grandchildren & 10-Great Grandchildren
