

She was born July 20, 1931, in Galveston, Texas, to Thelma and Frank Hasserd. Gloria was a resident of Katy, Texas, since 2000, and was formerly from the city of Bellaire. She enjoyed spending time with her family while gambling, gardening, cooking and was known as the "Dancing Queen". Friends and family would flock to Gloria's house for her home cooking and sweet iced tea. As a native of Galveston, she enjoyed fishing and crabbing and making her delicious seafood gumbo.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Applewhite; brother, Frank "Boo Boo" Hasserd; and her close friend, Charlene "Charnie" Balogh.
She leaves behind her sister, Deanna "Dee Dee" DeWolf and husband, Louis; brother, Richard Hasserd; sons: Jimmie Stanford Jr. and wife, Roberta; Gregory Stanford and wife Norma, Brian Applewhite; daughters, Debbie "Deb" Woodley and Kellie Jacobs; grandchildren, Ricky, Ryan and Ashley; great grandchildren: Colton, Gabriel, Ezekiel and Nathaniel; Jimmie Stanford Sr. and a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to her caregivers at Sundance Memory Care, Autumn Leaves Cinco Ranch and Donna Young, with Hospice.
Our Loss is Heaven's gain, our beloved mother was raised to her Heavenly home. Her graciousness, generosity, and kind heartedness brightened every room she entered. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
