Herbert S. Polson Jr. (84) went to eternal rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Born in Kansas City, KS, on July 24, 1936, he was a dedicated Catholic and was a member of several parishes in Houston, TX including St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Edith Stein in Katy, TX.
Herbert led a full and energetic life. He attended college at the University of Houston where he was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, spent time in the Marine Corp, served as a firefighter, worked for American Can, and worked for 19 years at Amoco Oil (now BP). He took up other jobs after retirement where he was known as friendly, reliable, and well-dressed.
Herbert was the father of five children: Michael Polson, Cheryl Polson (Phyllis) of Houston, TX, Herberta Polson, and Craig Polson of Kansas City, MO; their birth mother, Shirley Polson. He also had another daughter, Tracey Polson of Kansas City, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Polson Sr. and Anna Polson; his brother, Kenneth Polson; and his sister, Rebecca Harvey.
He is survived by his loving, supportive wife of 32 years, Prunella Polson; her children, Carolee Mitchell (Michael), Judith Fraser and Norman Gentle (Tasheba) of Houston, TX.
He leaves behind his sister, Betty Ann Mathews of Kansas City, MO; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and some wonderful memories.
Herbert will be missed for his generous love of life, and his love of God and family. He was a fancy dressed and had a unique style of his own. His dedicated following of Houston sports teams was another of his favorite pastimes.
The Polson family would like to thank the doctors at Kelsey Sebold and the Amed Community Hospice for their professional care during this time.
A memorial service will be held in the Rio Grande Chapel of Katy Funeral Home (22350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494) on February 6, 2021 at 10am.
