

James “Jim” David Shockney, 56, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in Katy, TX. A native of Kokomo, IN, Jim and his wife, Mary Catherine “Cathy” (Steele) moved to the Houston area in 1984. Jim graduated from Indiana University – Kokomo with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. He received his MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Jim worked as a Certified Public Accountant for much of his life and was a devoted husband, father, and friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed boating and spending weekends on the Sabine River in Orange, TX. He also enjoyed spending time working with The Smith Group Home and The Ranch in Orange, TX. Jim was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Jim was pre-deceased by his father, David Shockney and mother, Winifred “Winnie” (Featherstone) and sister, Mary Nay. Jim is survived by his wife, Cathy, of 31 years, his son, Joel and wife Meaghan of Katy, TX, daughter, Katie Shockney of Katy, TX, mother-in-law, Marilyn Campbell of Indianapolis, IN, brothers John of Kokomo, IN and Chester “Chet” Shockney of Advance, MO, brother-in-law, Ed Nay and nieces, Heather, Amy and Angela Nay all of Kokomo, IN, sister-in-law, Susan Steele, of Indianapolis and brother-in-law, John Steele of Fort Wayne, IN.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any Chase banking location to the account name “James Shockney Memorial Fund – Catherine Shockney Custodian” by check or money order.
