

Joao was born on April 8th, 1976, in Luanda, Angola, to Maria de Almeida and the late Domingos de Almeida. He was raised in a loving and close-knit family alongside his older sister Rosa de Almeida and his three younger siblings Enoque de Almeida, Ruth de Almeida, and Ezequiel de Almeida. From a young age, Joao stood out as an exceptionally bright student. He was recognized not only for his academic excellence but also for his dedication, even serving as a teacher at his own school while still a student himself.
Joao dedicated his professional life to the oil and gas industry, working with Sonangol. He began his career working aboard ships overseas and, through his remarkable work ethic and leadership, steadily rose through the ranks. In 2019, he was appointed President of Sonangol Marine Services, a position he held with great pride until his passing. Beyond his professional success, Joao was a man of deep compassion. He established an orphanage in one of Angola’s provinces and founded a charitable organization focused on helping underprivileged children receive an education. His contributions earned him numerous awards and honors across Angola, India, and the United States.
Joao is survived by his beloved wife Albina Marcial and their cherished daughter Luzete de Almeida. He is also survived by his mother Maria de Almeida, and his siblings Rosa, Enoque, Ruth, and Ezequiel. He was preceded in death by his father, Domingos de Almeida, who passed in 2006. Joao was a deeply devoted family man. He treasured the time spent with his family and friends and held those moments close to his heart.
In his personal time, Joao found great joy in watching and playing tennis. He was an avid Formula One fan and especially loved the Mercedes team, proudly collecting their hats. Music was also a significant part of his life, and he was a passionate fan of Coldplay. One of his fondest memories was attending a Coldplay concert with his wife and daughter in 2016. Joao was also a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for 31 years. He was deeply respected and cherished by his spiritual brothers and sisters for his faith and unwavering commitment.
Joao de Almeida will be remembered not only for his achievements and generosity but most of all for the love he shared so freely with everyone who knew him.
