Julia Jane Wright Plagens passed away peacefully on April 9, 2018. Jane was born in Goose Creek, Texas (which later became part of Baytown) on August 10, 1933, to Richard Miles Wright and Sarah Amy Wagner Wright, long-time residents of Baytown. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1951. Jane wed Russell Woodward “Bud” Wilhite, Jr. on January 26, 1951, and they were married for over 30 years. She later married Wallace Fred “Slim” Plagens of Tomball, Texas, with whom she had five happy years.
Jane was a loving mother and is survived by daughter Martha Wilhite Williamson of Houston, daughter and son-in-law Beverly Wilhite Tinn and Bob Tinn of Cypress, daughter Amy Wilhite Swoboda of Houston, son and daughter-in-law Russell W. Wilhite, III and Peggy Wilhite of Pattison, and daughter and son-in-law Connie Wilhite Gatlin and Jake Gatlin of Houston. Jane is also survived by her sister, Shirin Gardner of Richmond, Kentucky, and her brother and sister-in law, Richard and Addie Lou Wright of Madison, Alabama. Jane was a loving matriarch to a thriving family which includes 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Our mother loved her family deeply and was integral to all the many family get-togethers. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many of her children's clothes when they were young. She enjoyed a wide range of interests, including movies, music, books, puzzles, and collecting many different things.
Jane will be so dearly missed, but her family trusts that she will be as loved in the next life as she was in this one.
