Lisa Rickards Box

Lisa Rickards Box, 62, of Katy, Texas, passed away in her home, Thursday, February 25, 2021.

Lisa was born September 2, 1958 in Caracas, Venezuela, to Leonard and Pauline Rickards. She lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, for much of her childhood, spending many summers and holidays near her parents’ hometown of Canton, North Carolina. She moved to England for high school, graduating from American School of London (ASL), in 1976, and went on to earn her B.S. in Speech Pathology from Oklahoma State University, in 1980. She moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1982 and started a family, eventually having four children and five grandchildren (and counting) who were the center of her life. She adored spending time with her family, her friends—old and new—and her beloved pets. She was described by all as creative, fun, supportive, nurturing, and selfless.

Lisa Rickards Box was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard M. Rickards and Pauline Rickards. She leaves behind her children: Adam Box and wife, Kristen, of Houston, TX; Larissa Fass and husband, Matthew, of Spring, TX; Kayta Mackenzie Butterfras and husband, Jonathan, of Katy, TX; and David Box and wife, Paige, of Katy, TX; her brother, Timothy Rickards, of Springdale, NC; and a host of dear grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Lisa loved unconditionally, supported selflessly, and cared genuinely about the pursuits, passions and problems of everyone she loved. She’ll be sorely missed for her humor, her poetry, her comforting words, her gentle patience, her love of animals, and her uncanny ability to remember birthdays.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 11, at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, TX 77494, beginning at 11:00 AM.
