Sandra Kay Malone, 65, was called home to our Lord on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

Sandra was born on January 6, 1956 in Houston, Texas to Pierce and Adele Leake. Sandra graduated from Spring Woods High School in 1974 where she was a member of the Tigerettes Drill Team. After high school, she attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. In September of 2020, Sandra retired from Daniel Measurement and Control after 39 wonderful years of service. She enjoyed making memories with her children, grandchildren and family. Growing up in the summers, you could find her soaking up the sun at her family beach house in Galveston, Texas. She also loved spending time with her entire family while camping on the lake. As a young adult, she was an avid artist and loved to spend time creating oil-based paintings. Above all, her most recent passion was being a dedicated and devoted Gigi to her grandkids. Sandra was a ray of light to anyone she met and had a smile that lit up the room.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Sophia Leake; her grandmother, Barbara Carpenter; and her parents, Pierce and Adele Leake.

She is survived by her daughters, Kristina Brown and husband Patrick, and Megan Malone; brother, Pierce Leake, Jr. and wife Debby; sisters, Linda Curtis and husband Tony, Susan Black and husband Sonny, and Nancy Pettit and husband Jeff. Sandra is also survived by her grandchildren, Kinley Brown and Brady Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Sandra’s family would like to give a special thanks to MD Anderson Cancer Center and staff who took tremendous care of her. She was a warrior through her entire fight.

A celebration of life will be held at Katy Funeral Home Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Sandra’s memory may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or charity of your choice.
