Scott Tomer, 54, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. Born on September 18, 1970, in Houston, Texas, Scott spent his life building strong bonds with those around him and living with quiet purpose, dedication and heart.
Scott was the beloved husband of Rebecca Tomer and the proud father of April Tomer and Foster Tomer, all of whom were the light of his life. He was also a devoted stepfather to Blaze. He is survived by his mother, Janice Mosley, and his brothers, Wayne Alford and Troy Alford. He was preceded in death by his cherished grandparents, Edgar Basel Foster and Kathryn Mae Foster, and his beloved aunt, Carolyn Spradlin, with whom he shared a deep bond.
Scott's faith was a cornerstone of his life. Growing up, church was deeply important to him—not only as a place of worship but as a community where he found strength, fellowship and purpose. He was a faithful member, always ready to lend a hand and support others.
From an early age, Scott displayed an inquisitive mind and a natural gift for understanding how things work, particularly when it came to computers. His passion for technology evolved into a career as a skilled computer programmer. Coding wasn't just his job—it was his art, a way he found meaning and creativity in solving problems and building something lasting.
Scott graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Management Information Systems, balancing a deep appreciation for structure with his technical abilities. Whether in his career or at home, he was known for his calm presence, quick wit and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
He especially enjoyed cheering on his beloved Houston Cougars. Whether spending time with loved ones or simply enjoying quiet moments together, Scott's warmth, humor and strength left an indelible mark. He was a man who cherished his faith, family and community—a devoted husband, father, stepfather, son, brother and friend. Scott's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Thursday, June 26th, at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494.
For those who wish to honor Scott's memory, donations may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association or a local youth coding initiative, in recognition of his lifelong love of technology and learning.
