She was born in Englewood, New Jersey on July 20, 1938, the daughter of Francis W. Appleton and Belle-Alison Hannah (Weight) Appleton, where she lived for thirty-three years before embarking on a new life in Southern California; Yuma, Arizona; Kanehoe, Hawaii, and Sacramento, California. She spent the final 29 years in Keene, New Hampshire. She graduated high school in Bergenfield, NJ and attended college in California and Arizona.
Alison was especially grateful for her 52 years of AA sobriety, she called it a gift from God. She was thankful to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit for their love, compassion, and guidance throughout her life on earth.
She was an avid gardener and seamstress and enjoyed retirement after a long mortgage banking career.
She is survived by her sons, Richard T. Sears, and his wife Christine of Stoddard, NH; James R. Sears, and his wife Michele of Au Gres, MI; her 4 granddaughters, Amy Munankarmi, and her husband Shailesh; Ashley Sears; Vera Sears; Natasha Sears; 2 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson; and her former daughter-in-law, Ellen Lennhoff Medvitz, and her husband, Dave.
A memorial service will be held on November 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Westport Village Church, 109 Westport Village Road, Swanzey, NH.
