

He was born June 23, 1923, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Daniel and Mary (Malloy) Gleason. He was a 1941 graduate of Philadelphia Public High School and went on to attend Temple College and Rutgers University. On November 1, 1944, he married the love of his life, Antoinette Rotelli.
Daniel proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He served in Central Europe, Ardennes, and the Rhineland receiving the EAME Campaign Medal, and WW11 Victory Medal a well as the American Campaign Medal. He served with the 8th Armed Division as well as the 908th Field Artillery Battalion.
After his time spent serving our country he came home to attend college and then went to work for RCA, where he worked for more than 28 years. After his time there he attended Rutgers University and became Administrator of Camden County (New Jersey) Work Release Program, which helps people who are incarcerated find gainful employment. Daniel loved being able to help others who were going through difficult times and he enjoyed knowing that his small efforts changed their lives.
Daniel was very devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed working with HAM radios. For a while Daniel served on the City Council in Barrington, NJ, where he and his family lived.
He is survived by his son: Daniel A. Gleason and his wife Elizabeth of Haddon Heights, NJ, his daughter: Suzanne G. Jahn of Keene, NH, four grandchildren: Sean Gleason, Evan Gleason, Aimee D’Alessandro, and Peter Jahn and two great-granddaughters: Sophia and Olivia D’Alessandro. He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, his brother: Thomas Gleason, and his son-in-law: Phillip Jahn.
Services will be private and held at the Veterans Cemetery in the spring.
