David was born June 16, 1934, in Jonesport, Maine, the son of Gladys (Davis) and Lowell S. Reed, Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of Machias High School in Machias, Maine. On February 14, 1954 he married his first wife, Virginia Holmes, who passed away March 22, 1975.
David loved to be with his family: whether gathering at the holidays, baking sweets, spending time with his grandchildren or entertaining guests with his humor, he was happiest when around those he loved. He had a warm and humorous sense about him and it was contagious. He was an avid Red Sox Fan and never missed a game, in fact he attended two games in person. In addition he enjoyed working outside in the yard, growing vegetables in the garden, and various other outdoor chores. Over the past few years he had taken on new hobbies: reading, word games and puzzles, and watching television. Perhaps one of his favorite past-times was listening to Irish Music.
He is survived by his son: Larry Reed of Greenville, NH, two daughters: Janet Grout and her husband David of Swanzey, NH and Ashley V.
