Doris A. Newton

She was born in Winchendon, MA on September 10, 1934 the daughter of John L. and Doris Mable (Kidder) Oakes. She grew up in the Winchendon area and was a graduate of Murdock High School in Winchendon.

In her adult years, Mrs. Newton lived in Keene and Harrisville for many years.

She worked at Bullard & Shedd Drug Store in Keene and also at various concession venues in the area.

Mrs. Newton had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed whale watching and especially enjoyed spending time with her friends.

She is survived by her son James L. Newton, and his wife Kathy, of Swanzey; her daughter Helen Burke of Greenville, NH; her three grandchildren James, Cassie and Gregory Burke; and a brother James Oakes of Alaska.

Services for Mrs. Newton will be held Monday evening at 6 o'clock at the Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH. The Reverend Ronald Ferguson, Minister at the Monadnock Covenant Church in Keene will officiate. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Friends are invited. Burial will be private.
