

Doris G. H. Thompson, 86, of Jaffrey Road, Marlborough, died peacefully and in the company of her family on Sunday afternoon at her home following a period of failing health. Mrs. Thompson was the widow of Dale E. Thompson who died in December 2006 and is predeceased by her daughter Katherine LaForest.
Doris was born in Chambersberg, PA., February 24, 1926. She was the daughter of Elmer and Katherine Gluck Hawbaker. Mrs. Thompson graduated from the Mercersberg Pa. High School and went on to attend Pennsylvania State University. Following her marriage to Dale Thompson in 1947, she resided in Butler Pa., LaCanada, Ca. and Rindge before moving to the Keene and Marlborough area in 1994.
She was extremely active as a volunteer in every community where she lived. In Keene, she volunteered for many years at the Cheshire Medical Center. She was also an active member of the New Hampshire Republican Women and the Rindge Historical Society, and attended the Federated Church of Marlborough.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Remle Gordon and her husband Lewis of North Attleboro, MA. and Christine Scheffler and her husband Steven of Marlborough. She is also survived by six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and son-in-law Richard LaForest.
Calling hours will be held early Wednesday evening from 4 to 6 o'clock at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene. Friends are invited. Those attending calling hours are requested to use the entrance off of the parking lot.
Public services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, at the Federated Church of Marlborough.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in memory of Doris to the Marl-Harris Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 487, 236 Main Street, Marlborough, NH. 03455.
