Her parents, Gale and Ruth (Porter) Hodgkins welcomed their daughter into the world on July 19, 1949 in Keene, NH. She grew up in Surry, NH attending local schools and was a graduate of Monadnock Regional High School in Swanzey, NH.
Ellen’s work career focused on customer service. She found great joy in providing hands-on services to members of our community at the Cheshire County Saving’s Bank, now TD Bank, Lindy’s Diner, and later with Timoleon’s Restaurant, all in Keene.
She loved her outings to Dunkin Donuts, at which, she met her husband, Tom; and back to Timoleon’s with Tom after her retirement to see her many friends she had created there over the years.
Ellen found a special place in her heart for her cat, "Chevy".
She is survived by her son, Samuel Jones and his wife, Janice, of Colrain, MA; her two grandson, Henry and Everett Jones; Tom’s family, sons, Todd Holbrook and his wife, Betsy, of NC, Jay Holbrook and his wife, Michelle, of NC, and his grandchildren. Her husband of 25 years, Thomas "Tom" F. Holbrook, predeceased her on October 11, 2023.
A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. Burial in the Surry Village Cemetery will be held privately by the family.
