Born in Keene, NH on January 21st, 1947, he was the only child of Marjorie Thayer Graves and Olin F. Graves. Terry graduated from Keene High School in 1966 after taking a short leave to serve in the army. In the early 1970s Terry moved to Phoenix, AZ and there he enjoyed the scenery and climate which he hoped to go back to one day because he did not want to spend another winter in New Hampshire. He later moved back to Keene where he met his ex-wife and moved to Fitzwilliam to raise a family. Working in sales mostly with cars, he was always looking for the next bargain and everything was for sale at the right price. In 2010 he retired and moved to Hillsborough, NH to his tiny house on the brook, still dabbling in real estate and car sales on the side.
He loved sports cars, sports, especially football and in recent years YouTube was his go-to for everything. Terry always took the back roads, even if it took twice as long, and found many spots where he could follow his many passions. A true nature lover, he spent much of his time outside hiking, exploring, kayaking, and always knew a good swimming spot on a hot day. He had an eye for photography and loved gardening.
He is survived by his son Jon B. Graves of Keene, daughter-in-law Reed and grandsons Carter and Drew, his daughter Katherine Nicholson of Burlington, WY, son-in-law Kenny, grandsons Mickey and Anthony, and many cousins, neighbors and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Olin and Marjorie Graves and his dog Buster.
In lieu of flowers, take a walk in the woods, the long way home some afternoon, stop at some lake and take a swim or hop in the kayak and take a moment for Terry, he certainly would.
A celebration will be held at Tempesta's Restaurant, 401 Winchester Street, Keene, NH on Saturday July 5th at noon. Please join us to share stories, food and laughter in remembering Terry.
