Marcia Lee “Tootie” LaBombard West, 69, died June 23, 2014, at her home in Keene, New Hampshire after a valiant struggle with cancer. Mrs. West was born on February 12, 1945, in Hanover, New Hampshire, to Richard N. and Helen I. (Conroy) LaBombard.
Marcia spent most of the last 40 years with the love of her life, Scott West. Marcia and Scott were married on February 29, 1976, at her brother Bill’s home in Lyme, New Hampshire.
Marcia grew up in Hanover and came to Keene in 1976. She worked at several places in New Hampshire, including Cheshire Hospital and the Keene Sentinel. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose, and attained her Green Cap and was a senior regent.
Her family wrote: “Marcia was close to her family and enjoyed creating special gatherings to spend time with them. She was an outgoing and warm person who enjoyed meeting people and seeing friends. She had a big heart, always with room for one more.”
She is survived by her husband, Scott West of Keene; brother William LaBombard (Gloria) of Lyme, NH; brother John LaBombard of Leesburg, FL; sister Deborah Marten (Mike) of Downey, CA; brother David LaBombard (Joyce) of West Lebanon, NH; daughter Tami Spencer (Noel) of Canaan, NH; son Kevin Richard (Mark Engelter) of San Francisco, CA; daughter Melissa Mullally (Mike) of Keene, NH; son Jason West of Keene, NH; step-son Scott West Jr. (Sharon) of Gardner, ME; step-daughter Nancy Coburn of Ascutney, VT; step-daughter Karen Oullette (Bill) of Perkinsville, VT; step-daughter Cindy Blackmon of Colorado Spring, CO; step-son William West (Elva) of Fairfield, CA; several nieces and nephews, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step grandchildren.
Mrs. West was preceded in death by her parents; sister Patricia Judd; brother Richard LaBombard; son Craig Richard; and daughter Rebecca Richard.
The family wants to thank Jen, Aileen, Patrick, and other hospice caregivers who brought such wonderful care and comfort the last year of her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 4:00 pm at Saint Bernard’s Church, 173 Main St., here in Keene. Burial will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, 10:30 AM, at the Pine Knolls Cemetery, South Main Street in Hanover, NH. Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH is handling the arrangements.
