Michelle "Shelly" Lee Tapp, age 57, a woman of great love and compassion passed away peacefully at her home in Keene, NH, on December 1, 2025, with her husband of 25 years, Jason Tapp, by her side. Shelly’s life was a testament to kindness, family, creativity, and her unwavering love for animals.
Born on August 28, 1968, in San Diego, CA, Shelly was the cherished daughter of Edward and Charlotte (Brunelle) Yoerger. Her family moved to Keene, NH, where Shelly spent the rest of her life.
Professionally, Shelly brought joy and dedication to her roles at Fassett’s Bakery, Bradley’s Department Store, and Hannaford’s Grocery Store until her health began to decline in 2001. She later worked from home, creating custom keepsakes for weddings and events, blending her creativity with her desire to make moments special for others.
Shelly’s life revolved around her love for animals, particularly her beloved cats and dogs. Over 26 years, she cared for 23 animals, including 21 cats, whom she affectionately referred to as her "fur-babies." Her pets motivated her to fight harder during her battle with cancer, as she saw herself as their mom and protector.
A lover of Halloween, Shelly transformed her home into a celebration of the spooky season year-round. Outside, she and Jason decorated their house with lights and inflatables, while inside, her craft room was filled with Halloween treasures, reflecting her passion for old-fashioned Halloween collectibles.
Her love for crafting knew no bounds, ranging from paper crafting and sewing to jewelry making, which became her favorite pastime in her final months.
In 2009, Shelly discovered World of Warcraft, where she thrived as the sassy, wisecracking Gnome Warlock "Saffina" which later went on to name her beloved Beagle. She formed a Guild of players and delighted in collecting virtual pets, a reflection of her real-life love for animals.
In January 2024, Shelly was diagnosed with recurring cancer, which she faced with incredible bravery and determination.
Shelly will be deeply missed by her husband, Jason Tapp of Keene, NH; her siblings, Edward Yoerger of Westmoreland, NH, Richard Yoerger of Sullivan, NH, Lynn Stone of Keene, NH, and Virginia Marvis of Hooksett, NH; as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
