

He was born on September 19, 1918, in Marlborough, the son of Walter B. and Lucy (Mason) Clark, and attended area schools. After graduation from High School, he worked in the label business in Marlborough until he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II.
After his Honorable Discharge, Mr. Clark returned to Marlborough, where he lived the remainder of his life, living in the same house for over 80 years. He took over the position of Postmaster for the town of Marlborough from Arthur and Julia Croteau, and held that position for many years, until his retirement.
A literal fixture in the town of Marlborough, Mr. Clark was involved in many town activities. He was a life member of the Federated Church of Marlborough, the Croteau-Coutts Post # 24 American Legion and the Odd Fellows, PAQ UOIG Lodge #50 IOOF, he was a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross, belonged to the Rebeccas, Harmony Lodge # 16, the Monadnock Ladies Encampment # 10, the Ashuelot “Patriarch Militants”, the Salvation Army, the Marlborough Horse Thief & Detective Association, the Marlborough School Alumni Association, a member of the Historical Society, a Past Treasurer of the Marlborough Nursing Association, as well as a member of the Retired Post Masters Association.
Many times he could be found around town, playing cards, Dominoes, or just being a part of the town. While serving as Post Master, it was not uncommon that he would deliver packages after hours, to families so that Christmas gifts or other presents would be there when needed.
Mr. Clark is survived by three sisters: Margaret Clark and Eleanor Russell, both of Marlborough and Rachel Troy of Keene; nine nieces and nephews: Cynthia Deaton and her husband Bob of Illinois, Kenneth Clark of Florida, Richard Clark II and his wife Anne of Gilsum, Ronald Clark and his wife Kathleen of Marlborough, Ilona Nason and her husband Edward of Marlborough, Virginia Hipple and her husband Paul of Wilmington, Ma., Lisa Edwards and her husband William of Keene, Michael Troy and his wife Mary of NY, Daniel Troy of Keene; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brother: Richard Clark.
Calling Hours will be held Friday, December 21 from 5:00 until 7:00 at the Fletcher Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, December 22, at 11:00 at the Federated Church of Marlborough. Burial will be held in the Spring, at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Marlborough.
