She was born in Keene, NH on April 13, 1924 the daughter of Alfred and Emma (MacDonald) Henderson.
She was a lifelong resident and attended local schools. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. Shirley was the last living child of a family of nine children.
She is survived by two sons; Gerald A. Hamel and his wife Susan of Keene, NH and Wally L. Hamel and his wife Denise of Durham, NH; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Arthur J. Hamel, her daughter Jean Kirk and her eight siblings died earlier.
Graveside services were held at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene on September 5, 2014. The Rev. Nancy Wood, Cheshire Medical Center Chaplin officiated.
The Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH assisted the family with these arrangements.
