Virginia W. McKenney

18 May, 19324 June, 2021

On Friday, June 4, 2021, Virginia McKenney passed; she was proud to have reached the 89 year milestone.

Virginia lived in Maine, Virginia, New York, and New Hampshire and held secretary jobs, which she earnestly fulfilled. Serving in the Keene State College Alumni Office brought her great joy.

She is survived by her sister, Lloma, and five children, John (Nancy), David (B.R.), Jane (John), Mary (Dave), and George (Heidi), plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, John.

Virginia was blessed with special friendships and was caringly curious of everyone she met, often finding meaningful connections. She enjoyed biographies, knitting, piano music and social events. She remained blessed with a remarkable memory and wit as she bravely pursued a nearly nine-decade life.

Virginia’s family is grateful for the caring and respectful support of the staff at Langdon Place of Keene, Cheshire Medical Center, DHMC, and First Baptist Church.

Services will be held in Maine at the convenience of the family.

I have known and worked with Virginia for many years. She was always there to help me when I needed some typing done, someone to act as hostess, to share information and to help with events when the Keene State Golden Circle Alumni was first started back in the late 90's. Virginia enjoyed being involved with events at the college and its alumni.
I will miss the visits I often had with her plus her phone calls ( she even called for my last birthday much to my surprise). Virginia was a special friend through the years.

I/we are very saddened to read of Ginny's passing. I am the eldest daughter of Ann Bridge. My Mother and Ginny were very special soul mate friends. We send condolences to her family. I just spoke with your Mom recently and was hoping to see her soon in Keene. Hope your memories and her love for you help you during your feeling of loss. She was a very special friend to me when I needed one. Peace be with you.

So sorry to read of Virginia's passing. She was such a steadfast inspiration during the organization and management of her husband's memorial scholarship. It was always a pleasure to meet with Virginia.
