It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Eugene Parks of Keller, Texas. He passed away at age 75 in New York on October 6th, 2023. Jack was born October 15th,1947 to Charles and Alvina Parks in Beardstown, Illinois. He grew up in Beardstown and attended college at Southern Illinois University, where he met the love of his life, Sheryl. They married in October of 1971. They had two sons, Sean and Kevin. Jack and Sheryl moved to Keller, Texas, in the 1980s where they raised their family.
He and his wife enjoyed many, many adventures inside and outside of the United States. Jack became an international traveler in retirement. He didn’t let anything come between his travels and experiencing life. While he began traveling a lot later in life, his travels really started with Civil War sites. He was passionate about the Civil War. He would be the one to call for random trivia questions about the war. He pretty much knew every trivia question, such as General Custer's horse’s name.
Jack was also a big sports fan. He was always trying to watch a game when he could, especially the Chicago Bears. Sports was something that he shared with both sons, especially Sean. The whole family was avid Bears fans. Because Jack was such a logical thinker, he would search for every possible outcome to a problem and was the only one that would play risk with his son Kevin.
His legacy lives on through his family. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Sheryl. His son Sean, his wife Catherine, and their three children: Sid, Will and Maya. His second son Kevin, his wife Kristi and their three sons: Asher, Caylum and Jace.
Jack was an amazing soul and strong friend. He had a great sense of humor and was always good to talk with. He will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind.
A visitation with family and friends, to celebrate Jack's life, will be held at Keller's Old Town Funeral Home on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 3:00-5:00 PM
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kellersoldtownfuneralhome.com for the Parks family.
