Juan Cantu, age 91, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 21,2021. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 27 at 1:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm, at Foust & Son Funeral Chapel in Grapevine, 523 S. Main St.
Juan was born on June 24, 1929 in General Bravo, Nuevo León, Mexico. He Married Carmen and they were married for 71 years. After his marriage and the birth of their first 2 children they immigrated to the United States. Two other children were born in Texas.
Juan was always actively involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He loved sports and attended all games his children played in. He encouraged his children to play their best and would even attend practice whether it was football, basketball, baseball or any other sport. Juan never had a harsh word when encouraging his children. He would just give his children advise and pointers on how to improve the game.
He was always proud of his children. And would boast to others how well his children did in school. Even after college, he would tell others that all four of his children graduated from Texas Tech University . Something he deeply admired.
He had a great sense of humor. If there was ever an example of a person who sees the glass half full - that was Juan. He was always positive and without fail had a joke for every occasion. And the best part was without exception he laughed at his own jokes which made the jokes even funnier.
He is preceded in death by grandson Ryan Mayrath and is survived by his wife Carmen Cantu, son Jesse Cantu of Austin, Texas, son John Cantu (Bea) of Keller, Texas, daughter Mary Mayrath (Bill) of Coppell, Texas, son Roland Cantu (Nikki) of Morton, Illinois, Grandchildren: Leslie Lee, William Mayrath, Austin Mayrath, Lucy Gardner, Kendall Cantu, Beckett Cantu and one Great-Grandson, Everett Lee
