She was born on 15 Oct 1936 in Lutten, Overijssel, The Netherlands to Harm and Klasina Brink. She was the fifth of six kids, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
In 1967, she came to Canada on a work visa as a nurse/seamstress and immigrated in 1968 when she married Hendrik (Henk) Veldman. She was then Henk’s “right-hand” on the various family farms they owned in Alberta and BC all the while raising three kids, Allen, Katherine and Gary.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henk in 2004. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Gerrit-Jan, Willem and Jenny (first wife), Jennie (second wife) Brink, Klaas and Jenny Brink, Jannie and Harm Blokzijl, and Harry and Dieny Brink. She will be dearly missed by Allen and Mary and their children, John and Naomi, Katherine and Tim and their daughters, Allison and Amanda, and Gary and Kirsten and their children, Hannah, Jadon and Kerry.
Aly was steadfast in keeping the Lord near her side throughout her life. She donated her time to the church and was a staunch supporter of the Lord’s work. Aly created a multitude of projects connected to yarn, thread and fabric. Crocheted tablecloths, knitted toques and hand-made quilts adorn our homes, heads and beds.
A service will be held on 1 Oct 2026 at Grace Reformed Church in Kelowna, 1710 Garner Rd, Kelowna, BC V1P 1E5 at 10:00 AM. A graveside ceremony will follow the service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2850 Dry Valley Rd, Kelowna, BC V1V 2K1 at 12:00 PM.
