Glessman, Alfred Arthur "Fritz" August 29 1934- November 28 2018 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Fritz Glessman, after a long battle with illness, on Wednesday November 28 2018 at the age of 84. Predeceased by brothers Gus, John, Ewalt and sister Otillie. He leaves behind his loving and doting wife of 57 years, Teresa(nee Vannier), brother Rudy (Marie) Glessman of Barrhead, daughter Cheryl (Greg) Hughes, of Calgary, son David (Tina) Glessman, of Peachland, and grandaughter Alysha, along with many other extended family members. Fritz was born August 29 1934, and raised just outside of Mellowdale Alberta. In his twenties, he made the move to Clearwater BC and worked alongside his brother Ewalt, before moving to Vancouver and meeting the love of his life, Teresa. Eventually moving to Kelowna in 1972. Over the years Fritz worked for many different trucking outfits, and even had his own company for some time in Kelowna. He had a way with words and was always looking to get some laughs, even if it was at his own expense. How can you put into words a truly indescribable man. Anyone who knew him got the chance to experience how truly genuine he was. The family would like to thank the staff at Kelowna General Hospital for all the kindness and care they provided to Fritz in the last few years. In lieu of flowers, we ask instead you make a donation to find a cure for Shy-Drager Syndrome, also known as Multiple System Atrophy (M.S.A). The funeral will be held Friday December 7 2018, 1:00pm, at Valleyview Funeral Home located at 165 Valleyview Road, Kelowna. Tea and coffee to follow at the Elks Lodge at approximately 4:00pm, located at 1923 Kent Road. As I sit here writing this on behalf of my "gramps" I cannot believe how blessed I am to have had such a wonderful person in my life and the loss is truly heartbreaking. Though I am extremely distraught, I know he is no longer suffering, and he is finally at peace. I love you Grandpa, honk 'em. Fond Memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Glessman family.

As I was trying to come up with "a memory" of Dad, nothing was coming to mind. It was really bothering me then I started thinking that I don't have "just one" memory, I have a lifetime of memories. Dad was the best!! He was gentle yet firm when he needed to be. He was honest and told you as it was. He was always there to help me whether it be physical labor with one of my moves, or to encourage me with words, or to just give a big Dad's hug.
There is never enough time to say everything you want to say before someone departs from your life but you have to somehow believe that you had. You will always be in my heart, mind, and soul because I am a part of you. I honor you Dad and I love you.
Until we will see each other again. Hugs & Kisses.

I remember when you guys were living at the coast, Bev and me would come to visit in the summer and we would go to the PNE. Your Dad would talk me into going on the roller coaster. I was scared to death and swore every time that I not go on it next year. But he would always talk me into it the next year. But he would always keep me safe, He would put one of his long legs over mine so I wouldn't fall out. Thanks for keeping your flower girl safe. Love you and miss you.

Uncle Fritz loved family and never hesitated to step up when needed, no questions asked. One of those times was when we lost our dad at a young age. Uncle was heartbroken at losing his brother Ewalt, but was the rock that Mom and us girls leaned on. We got through those tough days with tears and laughter at the stories Uncle told. He and I had a friendly rivalry when it came to hockey, he always an Oiler fan me a Canucks fan. Uncle, the Canucks may be in 7th place in the division but your Oilers aren't far behind in 6th. On my last visit you asked, have the Canucks fired the coach yet? I answered no, you said check your phone, which I did and we laughed. I didn't know this would be our last laugh and our last game.

We ended our visit the way we always did our last words would be I love you.

Bob and I will cherish our visits with you and Auntie, the laughs, stories and occasional glass of wine. You will be missed everyday, I love you more than I can put into words. Give Dad a hug for me.

So sorry to hear of Fritz's passing. Sitting here thinking back on all the grand times we had following our son's hockey career. I always thought of Fritz as a buddy as we lived and died with each goal scored either for or against. I'm sure he will find an arena and make sure they do things right. He will be missed.

David and Family, my deepest condolences on the loss of your Father. We lost my Mom in July and know how VERY sad and traumatic that it can be. Breathe deeply, be kind to yourselves, cry freely, and ask for help when needed. Contact your local Hospice organization for information on services available to you.
