It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, nonna, daughter, sister, and aunt, Antonia (Toni) Guercio. Antonia passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday October 13, 2023, at the age of 66 years, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
Antonia will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Francesco; her sons, Marco (Sarah) and Davio; her grandchildren, Gia and Talia; her parents, Domenico and Emilia Mercuri; her brothers, Amedeo, Francesco (Kim), Benito, and Giovanni (Franca); her much loved nieces and nephews, large extended family and many friends. Antonia was predeceased by her parent in laws, Giovanni and Paolina, and her cherished daughter in law, Danielle.
Antonia was born in Aiello Calabro, Italy on May 26, 1957, immigrating with her family to Canada in 1959. After her early years in McBride, B.C., and later in Prince George, B.C., Antonia and Frank moved to Kelowna in 1989 and continued to build their wonderful life centered around their family. After a lengthy career with Scotiabank, Antonia took on a new role which she loved, working alongside her brother Dale (Amedeo), son Marco, and all the crew at Ramco Floors.
Antonia's first love and priority was always family, especially with her sons Marco and Davio, and over the past few years, with Sarah and her granddaughters. Antonia loved being Gia and Talia's Nonna! In every way, Antonia was the core of our family; always loving, devoted, and selfless. No matter the circumstance, she was always there for her family. Antonia will always be loved and remembered for the wonderful person she was, and while the void of her loss will never be filled, we are grateful she is now at peace.
A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 1077 Fuller Avenue, Kelowna. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Interment at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery and reception to follow at Saint Pius X thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, our family suggests a donation in Antonia's honour to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association at https://hospicecoha.org.
