Art Smith passed away at the age of 91 in Kelowna General Hospital, surrounded by his family, after a short illness. He was fortunate to be in good health until three weeks before his death from the effects of cancer. He leaves behind Linda, his loving wife of 67 years, sons Greg, Bradley and Mark, grandchildren Bryn, Cayla, Andrew and Callum and daughter in laws Lynn, Nancy and Maryann. Dad spent his career in aviation both as a pilot and air traffic controller. Bradley and Mark followed their dad into very successful careers as air traffic controllers in BC and Alberta.
Dad was born in Edmonton and moved to Esquimalt after his dad left the navy following WW2. He met mom in Sidney in the early 1950's and they were together ever since. Dad enjoyed living the last 50 years of his life in Kelowna, Playing golf, making wine and raising his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
