It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bernie Shalagan, a loving father, devoted grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather, who left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone he touched.
Born on October 14, 1932 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Bernie lived a life filled with passion, laughter and love. To his family he was the cornerstone that we looked to - offering guidance, support, and fierce devotion.
Bernie was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Patricia Shalagan. “Pat” was the love of his life and we take solace in the knowledge that they have been reunited.
As a father, Bernie will always be remembered by his children as a man who showed his love through patience, humour, integrity and charity.
His children, David Shalagan (predeceased) Kevin Shalagan, daughter in law Kimiko Ueda and Stephen Shalagan cherished his counsel and direction.
As a grandfather to five beautiful grandchildren - Anthony, Angela, Brandie, Michael and Joy and a great-grandfather to Rian, Clairity, Connor, Aurora, Ethan, Ryker and RayLynn. Bernie loved to spend hours with them sharing countless stories, wisdom, and joy - leaving a lasting legacy in their hearts.
And although we mourn the passing of Bernie and his light has faded it has not been extinguished. Instead it shines on in the countless friendships cultivated in his 92 years on this earth.
Rest in peace, Bernie your love and legacy will forever live on in our hearts.
A service in memory of Bernie will be held on December 6th at 10:30AM in the First Memorial Funeral Services Chapel with refreshments to follow. Those who wish to view the service from home are welcome to click the live stream button below.
