Catherine Margaret Bruce

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Catherine (Cathie) Bruce of Kelowna, BC at the age of 98. Cathie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1917 to John and Rose Bruce. She was predeceased by her three brothers Robert, Jack and Douglas, she is survived by her niece Janet Lowe (Dal), Edmonton, AB, nephews Robert (Sandi), Kelowna BC, Donald (Sharon), Halifax, NS, Gordon (Diana), Timberlea, NS, Harry (Beth), Dartmouth, NS, and Richard (Colleen), Halifax, NS. She was predeceased by three nephews Ian, Douglas and our precious little Cameron. Also survived by many great- nephews and great-nieces in Edmonton, AB and in Halifax, Timberlea, and Dartmouth. Cathie was educated through the Winnipeg School System where she excelled in Gymnastics and other sports. She worked in the Winnipeg School Board Office after graduation until retirement after 46 years. She was an active member of the Eastern Star, many years a Choir member at St. Paul’s Church in Winnipeg. She moved to Kelowna in 1985 and lived in the Colonial House until illness forced her to move into assisted living and finally into Mountainview (Complex Care Nursing Home) where she passed away peacefully 17 March 2016. Her family is very grateful for the loving care she received from all the staff at Mountainview and Thank them all. We would also like to say a very hearty thank you to her special friends who were always so supportive, Leslie, Lee and Heather. Cathie has been cremated and funeral arrangements will be made for later this summer. No flowers please, any donation, if you wish to your own charity please.
