Known by many as “the big guy who works for the City”, Darin was a hard-working man, proud of his professional accomplishments and relationships built during his 18 years working for the City of Kelowna.
He was a funny and charismatic man, loved by many family members and friends from different parts of his life. A certified ‘cat man’, he loved his pets, going so far as to rescue one from the streets of Mexico. Though Darin had many hobbies including gardening and weight lifting, he loved cooking best, and found no greater joy than in sharing food with the people he cared about.
A man with many different phases in his life, and remembered uniquely by those he drew around him in each, his kids will remember him as he was in their early years - an unwaveringly proud father, and a fun, active dad, who loved nothing more than a day-long game of neighbourhood ball hockey, a weekend camping trip with Shane’s Scouts troop, hours in the bush cutting his own firewood, or a good family beach day, grilling on a little hibachi and carving birch boats to float into the lake.
He will be missed.
Memorial to be announced by his family in the coming days.
