

David was born in Toronto, Ontario, on July 28, 1962. He grew up and was educated in various schools in the Victoria area, Kamloops, North Vancouver, and Aldergrove, B.C. He graduated from Aldergrove Community Secondary School in 1980, where he learned to play the trumpet. In his youth, David was active in sports, particularly baseball and soccer, playing on various teams over the years.
After gaining experience as a transport truck driver in Ontario in the 1980s, David returned to British Columbia to further his education, receiving a diploma in Business Administration with honours in 1993. David had over two decades of experience in management and financial planning. He successfully managed his own office, offering financial advice and investment strategies to clients. After spending years in the corporate world, he returned to the trucking industry and moved to the Lumby area of British Columbia.
Throughout his life, David continued to pursue his passion for music, performing with the ‘Mark Rose Orchestra’ and the ‘Legendary Lake Monsters’.
David is survived by his father, Bruce McDonald; his sisters, Kerri Onken (Robert) and Brenda Mahoney (Kevin); four nieces; two nephews; and four great-nieces who called him "Apple Dave". He was predeceased by his mother, Madge (2022), and his sister, Cynthia (2013).
David will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his extended family in Lumby.
