He was born, Dieter Ernst Rossdeutscher and came into the world on August 20th, 1939 in the small town of Koselitz, Germany. As a young boy, he loved many things and learned the love of baking from his Mom. At the age of 11 he sought his independence and hired himself to a farmer as a cow herder in the Bavarian Allgau. After that, as a 14 year old, he started his apprenticeship as a Konditor. At the age of 17 he came to Canada to join his brother, Harry in Edmonton, Alberta. In Edmonton, he added the skill of baking to his fine pastry education. The bakery is where he met his Rosie. Dieter and Rosie began their family and settled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley that they have called home for the past 52 years. He had a dream of owning his own bakery and made it a reality when he and Rosie opened the Willow Park Bakery and Konditorei. For 21 years, it he gave him so much joy and satisfaction to provide customers with his unique and delicious baked goods.
Dieter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Rosemarie and his children, Juergen and Susanne (Grant). Dieter will also be fondly remembered by his 6 grandchildren, Mckenzie and Alexis, Matthew (Haley), Scott, Alita (Jesse) and Ryan (deceased Zack). Dieter had a loving relationship with his sister Brigitte (Karl) in Germany and is predeceased by his brother Harry (Doris). He is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends and close neighbors.
