

Dee leaves behind two sons, Larry (Eva) and Don (Karen); two grandchildren, Tammy Earl and Tracy Earl; three great-grandchildren, Asher Earl, Jack Thody and Jo Thody; and sister Eleanor (Ellie) Houghton (Reg). Dee was predeceased by daughter Debbie, husband Stan, and brother Tom Smith.
Dee was born in Calgary, Alberta on August 6, 1930. Her father was in the navy and stationed in Victoria where Dee first fell in love with BC life. After moving back to Calgary, she graduated from Crescent Heights High School. Dee married her high school sweetheart Stan and raised their family in Calgary.
Dee worked at several bank branches and then at Associated TV with Stan. She volunteered with the IODE (Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire). Dee was an avid swimmer and taught swimming along with participating in and coaching synchronized swimming. She also enjoyed curling and bowling at the Calgary Winter Club.
After spending many happy family summers at their cabin on Okanagan Lake, Dee and Stan moved to Vernon, BC in 1976. Dee worked at Woolworths and started a 40-year journey as an Avon rep. Her Avon career brought her many awards and cherished friendships. Eventually, they moved to Lake Country on the shore of Wood Lake. Dee and Stan enjoyed many travels together however their hearts and home remained with their BC lake life.
Dee lived her final years at the Lake Country Lodge Retirement and Care Community. The family thanks all her doctors and caregivers for the excellent care she received.
A funeral service will be held at Winfield United Church (3751 Woodsdale Road), Lake Country, B.C at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
