Donald Bruce Affleck passed away peacefully on October 18th, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, faith, music, and cherished memories. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Donald’s warmth, creativity, and strength touched the lives of all who knew him.
Donald was the devoted husband of Charlotte Shirley Affleck. Together, Don and Charlotte walked hand in hand through 59 years of marriage, facing life’s joys and challenges together through both the good times and the bad, bound by deep partnership and enduring affection.
From his early years, Donald was defined by a deep passion for music and learning. A gifted multi-instrumentalist, he expressed his musical heart through the piano, trumpet, flute, and guitar. In his younger years, Donald channeled this gift into work as a skilled piano technician, bringing harmony and precise craftsmanship into countless instruments. Sharing his knowledge and faith was equally important to him, leading him to serve as both a piano teacher and a Bible school teacher—guiding young minds and instilling a love for music and spirit in others. Above all, Donald shared his deep passion for music at home, passing on his love of music to his children.
Donald was known for his wonderful sense of humor. Although his humor could be dry at times, he often enjoyed his own jokes more than anyone else, leaving those around him smiling at his quick wit and cheerful spirit.
He was a proud and loving father to his children, Norine Cacciatore (spouse of Frank Cacciatore) and Ron Affleck.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Robert Wesley Affleck and Elizabeth (Reimer) Affleck, his older brother David Affleck (spouse, Ann), his older sister Esther Dyck (who was predeceased by her husband, Peter Dyck), his beloved child, Timothy Affleck, and his grandson, Levi Dakota Stewart, all of whose memories he held close to his heart.
In addition to his wife and children, Donald is survived by his siblings, Bob Affleck (spouse of Cherry), Carol Whittall (predeceased by her husband, Brian), and Dorothy Cluines-Ross (spouse of John), as well as Karen Wollis, who came into the Affleck home as a young child where Elizabeth raised her as one of her own.
Donald’s legacy continues to bloom through his family. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Dallas Job Stewart, Levi Dakota Stewart (predeceased), Judah Timothy Stewart, Chevy Canaan Stewart,
Jenesis Saira Affleck, Jaslyne Tammy Affleck-Sakchekapo, Natasha Marie Affleck, and Cierra Miranda Affleck, as well as six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy, pride, and laughter to his life. His family was his greatest treasure, and his melody of kindness, guidance, and gentle spirit will resonate in their hearts forever.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
In accordance with Don's wishes, there will be no formal public memorial service. Don’s remains will be transported to Charlotte’s home reserve in Weagamow Lake, Ontario—the special place where Don and Charlotte first met. A small service will take place there with loved ones, followed by the burial of his ashes.
