

She passed away August 12th, 2021, three months shy of her 88th birthday.
Doris was born in Toronto, Canada, on Nov. 29, 1932. The youngest girl, seventh of eight children, born to Don and Violet Tong. She is predeceased by all of her siblings.
Doris followed her first husband, Stan Cane, with her 4 children, to British Columbia in 1967. They bought a house in North Burnaby. After her divorce in 1986, she remained in the Lower Mainland, bought a townhouse and started her own in-home daycare, until 1991, when she moved to Kelowna.
She bought another townhouse in Kelowna, took up square dancing, went back to school, joined a painting class and a singles club. It is there where she meet Fred Power. In 1994 they married and lived on, Westside Rd., in what is now West Kelowna, until he passed away in 2008.
She moved again to Kelowna and bought a condo. She continued to paint, giving many away to family members.
In 2014, at 80 years old, she married her third husband, a wonderful man, Lloyd Engel, from Saskatchewan. For the next seven years they would travel to Lafleche, Sask. for the summer and returned to Kelowna for the winter.
She is survived by her four children, Evelyn Mackinnon (Dave), Robyn Hornal (Art, deceased), Karyn Walker (Paul) and Chuck Cane (Cheryl Mcghie), seven grandchildren; Brenda (Josh), Brad (Touran), Christin, Kiel (Jolene), Autumn (Matt), Amanda and Carrie. As well as seven great grandchildren and numerous steps.
She is missed.
A memorial service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna. B.C. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:30 pm.
Internment will be on Monday, September 27, 1:30 pm. At Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 2850 Dry Valley Rd., Kelowna, B.C.
