

The family of Doris Evelyn Jenkins announces her quiet and peaceful passing surrounded by her family on October 22, 2011 at The Pines Special Care Home at the age of 94. Doris was born in Flowerdale, Alberta the only child of Edward and Frances Currie. Doris move to the DeWinton, Alberta area as a child and married Arthur William Jenkins on February 27, 1941. Doris and Art moved to Kimberley in 1945 where they resided until 1980. Doris enjoyed a long and happy life, and in particular, the very special times spent with family and friends. Doris learned to swim at age 65 and took up oil painting at age 80. She loved to dance and enjoyed entertaining, camping, and winters in the sun. After living in Westbank, Bowser, Vernon, Calgary and Edmonton, Doris returned to Kimberley in 2006, where she resided in Garden View Village until July of this year.
Doris was predeceased by her infant daughter Lorna Jean in 1943, loving husband Art in 1987, and by loving companion Ted Bridgeman in 2007.
Doris is lovingly remembered by her sons; Gordon (Ethel) and Harvey (Heather); grandsons Cam (Diane), Steve (Jodi), Marc (Jen), and Todd (Geri); and 6 great grandchildren Amanda, Jordan, Imogen, Angus, Jonah and Ezra.
A private celebration of life will be held in Kelowna on Friday, October 28, 2011.
