It is with deepest sorrow that the family announces the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) McAvoy (Zanny) on May 15, 2018 at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Ken McAvoy, together for 37 years. Much loved mother of Robert Marshall of Calgary, and step-mom to Kenny McAvoy (Sylvia), Kelly Roberts, Kevin McAvoy (Cathy) and Keith McAvoy (Arlene). Predeceased by her adored parents Steve and Marie (Thompson) Zanny. Survived by her sister Yvonne (William) Johnson of Edmonton, nephew Stephen (Cathy) Johnson and niece Patti (Paul) Clements, grand-nieces Meaghan, Michelle, Deanna, Jennifer (predeceased), Stephanie. She leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, Jason Arter, Devin (Jessica) Marshall, Brent (Alicia) Marshall, Rema Jade Fedda, Ali Fedda, Rielle McAvoy, Logan McAvoy, Andrew McAvoy, Alison Roberts and Eric Roberts. And her precious great-grandchildren Tristan Marshall, Hunter Marshall, Austin Marshall, and Hadi Fedda.
Born in Lethbridge Alberta in 1938, Betty grew up Barnwell, Alberta and Calgary, Alberta. She worked in a number of retail environments in Calgary and Edmonton, and as marketing manager of hotels in Red Deer and Banff, where she met her husband Ken. They moved to Kelowna and married in 1980. She managed restaurants for golf courses (Shannon Lake, Sunset Ranch) in the area. She loved her family, good friends, her cats, skiing, golfing, and her flower garden. She loved working with people and doing a job well. She was a strong lady, who didn’t know the word quit.
