Evelyn Mildred Clarke: (nee Voeltz). Born to Albert and Mildred Voeltz on October 19, 1925 at Kelliher, Saskatchewan and passed away in the Kelowna Hospice house on October 15th, 2018. She married Clarence Sloat and separated from him in 1958, whereby she moved to Kelowna with her three children: Darnel Froehlich, Landis Sloat and Darwyn Sloat. In 1974 she married John Clarke and became a step parent to his children. Evelyn was a hard worker and, at one time, held down 3 jobs to enable her children to enjoy sports, music and various activities. She was always smiling and made everyone around her feel important and had a way of bringing out the best in all those who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was tenacious in her beliefs and instilled high morals to her 3 children. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Mildred Voeltz, 4 brothers and sisters, Clarence Sloat and John Clarke. She is survived by her daughters, Landis Sloat, Darnel Froehlich and Darwyn Sloat (Moira). “Grandma”, as she was known is survived by her grand children: Lisa and Denise Froehlich, Jerrod Sloat (Cara) and Lindsay Jennings (MacLean) and her step grand children: Heather Sparks (David) and Bonnie Muir (Michael). Also 5 great grandchildren: Bennet and Logan Jennings, Grayson and Oliver Sparks and Lachlyn Muir. Grandma always brought love, happiness and smiles to her grand children and great grand children. The family would like to express gratitude to those working at Mountainview retirement home along with the staff at the Kelowna Hospice house for giving such great care until Evelyn’s last, peaceful breath.
