He is survived by his son Gord (Shelley) of Kelowna, British Columbia; daughter Pam (Mike) of Seabeck, WA; four grandchildren - Cody (Bretta) of Kelowna, Lyndsay (James) of Bainbridge Island, Kyle (Carlee) of Kelowna, Jon of Vancouver and seven great grandchildren (Olyvia, Noah, Carys, Crew, Royce, Emblyn, Payton) as well as his brother Howard (Lorraine), and sister Barbara, and brother-in-law Jim (Judy).
Geordie was predeceased by his wife Margaret of almost 60 years, his brothers Glenn, Bill, Dave and by his daughter-in-law Connie.
Geordie worked for the BC Department of Highways and Transportation for 40 years. While there, he played an important role as a surveyor, constructing the province's earliest highways - including the Fraser Canyon. In later years he was involved in helping his son establish his renovation business.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather - always present and in the moment. He was a man of integrity and character and he imparted that on his children.
Geordie will be fondly remembered for his wit, his great sense of fun and his overall good-naturedness. He was quick to show kindness and respect to others.
He was easy to love, loved by many, and will be greatly missed.
The family will hold a private celebration of his life in lieu of a public service.
Memorial donations in Geordie's name may be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.
