Harry was the youngest and last remaining member of the original Lucas family.Harry was born in Assinboia, Sask. on July 4, 1926. He grew up on the Lucas homestead at NE 12-8-28, W2 near Readlyn, Sask. He married Jeanette (Devnich) on Sept. 29, 1952 in Moose Jaw, Sask. Harry was a loving and devoted husband and father. Family was everything to him, and his love was immeasurable and unconditional. He was a kind-hearted man and loved to help people. He was a “handy kind of guy” and could fix and build most anything. He had a terrific sense of humour and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was outgoing, friendly and always willing to lend a hand.Harry enjoyed fishing, hunting, billiards, shuffleboard, woodworking, playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching NHL Hockey (Yay, Boston!), CFL Football (Go, Roughriders!), camping, and curling (playing and watching), cars and airplanes and traveling with Jeanette. Harry loved Christmas...he made every one filled with magic and love. He loved music and dancing – to watch him whirl Jeanette around the dance floor was a vision of smoothness and beauty.Harry loved farming, gardening and landscaping their yard, a passion he passed on to daughter, Shelly.Harry was a very patient man, as is evidenced the time he insisted on teaching a very reluctant Jeanette, Shelly and Brent how to play cribbage...all at the same time! We all grew to love the game and spent many hours playing the game with Harry and each other.Harry had a long and successful career in Real Estate, both in Swift Current, SK and Vernon, BC. He loved people and was very knowledgeable, professional and honest in all his dealings.Harry loved children and all animals, especially dogs, with whom he had an extra-special bond. The family is eternally grateful for the wonderful and loving care provided to Harry at Cottonwoods (Cadder Court) and Brandt’s Creek Mews (Apple Grove). We also thank the Staff at KGH, 4-East for the superior care and comfort provided Harry during the last week of his life.
