On October 17, 2019, 3 days after her 84th birthday, Helen lost her battle with COPD and passed away at KGH with her family by her side. Helen was a quiet, calm, very sweet and gentle woman, but, she showed remarkable strength and integrity throughout her many years of struggling with her illness. Helen was born in Toronto in 1935 and moved to Montreal as a young girl but remained a faithful Leafs fan much to the disappointment of the rest of her Habs loving family! In 1979 Helen and Doug moved to Kelowna to enjoy the BC lifestyle, this led to an endless number of camping and fishing adventures. Helen was part of the Ten Pin Bowling community for many years. She was a coach, held a seat on the local board and until recently was an active senior league bowler.
Helen will be missed by many, along with her children Doug (Dale), Don (Viv), Nancy (Shane), her 7 grandchildren (Matthew, Holly, Jacky, Katy, Courtney, Kristin, Jayden) and her 5 great grandchildren.
Helen is pre deceased by her husband Doug (2006) and her son Wayne (2010) (Terry).
In lieu of flowers, if everyone could take a minute and inhale a very long, very deep breath and think of Helen.
A very casual drop-in gathering will be held on Saturday, November 2nd from 1-4PM at 505 Perry Road, Kelowna, BC. Come for a coffee or a glass of wine and a visit.
Thank you to the 6 West Ward at KGH for your care and compassion.
