It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Howard Phillip Sali, 91 years young, of Kelowna, BC. Passing peacefully at The Hamlets in Vernon with all of us kids around him on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Dad was born in Vibank, Saskatchewan to parents Peter and Euphrasia (nee Selinger) Sali. He had 3 siblings; Harvey, Lynne and Wayne. As a family they all moved away from their farm to the city of Regina. Dad worked as a heavy equipment (grader) operator for the majority of his career, both in Regina SK and in Kelowna BC, until he retired at 65. He was well known for his expertise and accuracy, with many companies requesting him by name.
Dad’s only hobby was his love for Major League Baseball! He was tied to his TV watching the Blue Jay, the Dodgers, and the Yankees, not necessarily in that order. His favourite player is Shohei Ohtani. We teased dad during the 2025 World Series wondering how he was going to choose which team to cheer for! His response was, “May the best team win!” We doubt he was disappointed in the outcome.
Howard was survived by his 3 children: Daughter Celeste, Sons; Sidney and Shari, Daniel and Kimberley. Siblings: Wayne and Lois, Lynne and Ed . As well as in-laws Minnie, Ron and Dorothy, Orest and Alicia, Dan and Phyllis, Mervin and Kay and many nieces & nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Irene, parents Euphrasia and Peter Sali, brother, Harvey and sister-in-law Erin, in-laws Rose and Alex Hubic, and many other family & in-laws.
A Graveside Service will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kelowna on Monday, January 26th, 2026, at 12:00 Noon.
At the request of Howard, no flowers please.
