She was the second daughter born on April 26, 1950 to Wilfred and Lillie Baker in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Left to mourn her passing are her beloved husband of over 50 years, Bruce Burn; her children, Robb (Deanne) Burn; Carrie (Ivan) Vasko and grandchildren, Cameron (Aaron), Ferris and Sloane and great-grandson, Tucker; her sister, Arlene (William) MacLeod and nephew Kevin (Lorrie-Anne) and niece Crystal (Travis) Bernhardt as well as other grandnephew, grandniece, cousins and other family members.
She has been pre-deceased by her parents, Wilfred and Lillie Baker and mother-and father in love, Matthew and Irene Burn.
At the age of 5 years old Ingrid was struck by a car and hospitalized resulting in the loss of vision in one eye, which she bravely over-came throughout her life. She met and fell in love with her lifelong husband and best friend, Bruce Burn and were married in Prince Rupert on March 26, 1971. Together they lived a life honouring God and bringing up their children to honour God also. They began a long history of travelling together to far away parts of the world. Throughout their lives they went several times to Africa, Israel, and Australia and in later years cruising became their great passion, sharing many of these wonderful cruises with her sister Arlene and Bill and good friends, Linda and Ed.
In September of 1988 Ingrid, Bruce, and Carrie moved from Prince Rupert to Prince George to begin a new chapter as Bruce began his employment with WCB. Ingrid adapted well and loved the adventure. It was difficult being away from family, but the family kept close even though they were separated by geography. Ingrid worked at various administrative jobs, in the early years for a short time, BC Ferries, and the Coast Guard but mainly was a wonderful mother, homemaker and assistant to Bruce. In Prince George she enjoyed doing the books for Clare Scott at her lovely boutique. Both Ingrid and Bruce were actively involved in the church family and life in Prince George. In 2003 Bruce once again had an opportunity for a professional work advancement and together they moved to Kelowna to live in a big welcoming house on Black Mountain which they lovingly shared with all their family and friends, always being there for anyone of us who could come and spend time with them. Ingrid and Bruce very quickly became actively involved in the church family life of Kelowna Christian Center and are so very thankful for all their Pastors, especially Pastor Dave, and all their dear brothers and sisters in Christ who have shared this part of their life and have been so supportive through these years, especially now during this very difficult time of loss.
Our Ingrid loved her Lord deeply and was always desiring that her family and friends and anyone she came into contact with, would know how much Jesus loves them and that each would accept the free gift of salvation graciously given to us in Christ Jesus’ work on the cross. Ingrid was happy, carefree, and self-sacrificing. She was full of adventure and quick to be first on the zip line, para-sailing or any other exciting experience. She was always there to help and assist anyone in whatever way she could, remembering others needs and spending much time to bless others. The joys of her heart have been her children, her grand-daughters and her great-grandson. She has loved them deeply and has been there for them, always trying her best to help them grow in Christ and to help them out in practical ways all through their lives.
She has been faithfully at her husband Bruce’s side, honouring him and being a blessed helpmeet to him through all these years. As the scriptures say in Proverbs 31:10 & 11; “An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.’” Ingrid was this wife.
The family mourns her passing but are confident that our parting is only temporary as soon and very soon, we will all be together around the throne rejoicing in our Lord and Saviour, in our eternal home.
John 11:25 -26
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?
