Jean Ford Salmon

It is with great sadness that we announce that Jean Ford Salmon passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023, at the age of 96. Jean was born on September 7, 1926, in Toronto, Ontario, to her parent's Maude and Edward Tassie. She was the youngest of 3 children. Jean married her husband of 70 years, Bernard (Bernie) Salmon on May 30, 1953. She worked in the secretarial field until the couple moved to Montreal, Quebec, where their 2 daughters were born.

The family moved to Kelowna in 1971 where they continued to reside. Jean went back to work at Okanagan College as a switchboard operator and worked her way up to the administrative assistant for the Dean of Academics. She enjoyed, and took pride in her work. After her retirement, Jean and Bernie enjoyed several cruises and trips over several years. Jean enjoyed music, genealogy, collecting stamps, autographs and decorative plates, emailing friends and relatives and was an avid reader.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who would do anything for her family. She was the cord that held us all together and will be lovingly remembered and cherished for her strong, kind, and loving spirit.

Jean was predeceased by her parent's Maude and Edward Tassie, her stepmother, Marie Tassie, and her siblings, Russell Tassie and Marguerite Orrell. Jean is survived by her husband Bernie, daughters Joanne Pros (Wally), and Donna Purll, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Obedkoff and the staff at Glenmore Lodge for their wonderful care.
