Kaminiski, Joan Victoria May 23, 1941 – October 9, 2021
Joan Victoria Kaminski, beloved wife of Stan of Kelowna went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the age of 80 years. Joan was born May 23, 1941 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the eldest daughter of 4 children. She grew up in Winnipeg and that is where she met and later married her husband Stan Kaminski on May 7, 1960. Jean thoroughly enjoyed her career at Manitoba Telephone System (MTS) both in her earlier years and returning there as an operator when the children got older. Jean developed life-long friendships there as well as many fond memories and she cherished keeping in tough with long phone calls or visits. Joan’s other great joy in life was raising their 3 children, Karen, Darryl and Cynthia with an abundance of love, care and nurturing and extended those motherly characteristics to the rest of her family. The miles apart from family was not hindered as Joan kept close to her brother Alan, Gary and family in Australia and her children out of province as well as frequent telephone visits with her mom, Minnie if it wasn’t possible to be in person Joan’s greatest excitement was to plan the next family time together and special occasions to celebrate with one another and was always thankful for the. Joan love a good laugh (and it came easily)! Enjoying games, cards, bowling, mini putt, with friends and family and a gift to all who were recipients of these fun and special times. She also enjoyed outings with Stan to theatre, travel & bus tours, concerts or movies as well as being content to read a good book at home. Joan will fondly be remembered for her warm, loving smile (or laugh) and usually a hug & thoughtful compliments. She walked in great faith exemplified by her peace and regardless of circumstances said she was blessed. Joan will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years; Stan, her mother, Minnie, brother Alan, Gary & sister in law Heloisa, her children Karen (Scott), Darryl (Estelle), Cynthia (Jason) as well as her grandchildren; Brenden, Kolby (Christine) and Liam. Also greatly missed by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Joan was predeceased by her father, Joseph and her brother Don. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Dr. Susan Ellard and the Kelowna Cancer Center team, the Palliative Care team and the Kelowna Hospice House as well as the Canadian Red Cross in Kelowna, for the care and compassion they provided to Joan throughout her courageous battle with cancer.
