She was predeceased by her loving husband Willie in 2015 and her son Dick in 2007; parents Arthur & Elizabeth Curtis, brother Lyall and sister Irene.
Joan was born near Bateman, Saskatchewan April 13, 1927. She met Willie in Canuck, Saskatchewan where she was teaching. They married in 1946 and raised their family in Climax, Saskatchewan.
After moving to Kelowna BC in 1973, she worked for the Kelowna Daily Courier and Canada Post.
Willie & Joan spent many years wintering in Mesa, Arizona with their old friends from Saskatchewan and the many new friends they met through the years. In later years June & Dave were proud to share their Mesa home with Joan and she was able to reconnect with her friends.
Joan was devoted to her husband Willie and sat by his side for many years when he resided in the nursing home from 2008-2015.
Mom had a strong will to live, surviving cancer two times. Unfortunately, she lost the battle the third time. We are very grateful for the excellent care she received. Special thanks to Dr. Obedkoff, Dr. Bachand, the staff at the Kelowna Cancer Center and staff at Kelowna Hospice.
Donations may be made in Joan’s name to SAHCSI (Kelowna Cancer Center) 399 Royal Ave., Kelowna BC, V1Y 5L3.
A private family Celebration of Life will take place later.
