Patricia was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan to Jean and Leonard Ross of Melfort, the eldest of two girls and two boys. A gifted student, she earned straight A’s in high school and achieved her Grade 8 Royal Conservatory piano theory credentials with highest honours. She won numerous competitions and was highly sought after as an accompanist.
At the University of Saskatchewan, she earned teaching credentials and continued studying throughout her career. Patricia worked in the financial sector, eventually becoming manager of training and development.
She met Arnold Petrauskas in White Rock, BC at a church singles group, and he knew instantly she was his wife. Although she didn’t let on, she also knew he was meant to be her husband. They married a year later, welcoming Samuel 10 months later and then Annah 15 months after that.
Together, they attended Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, followed by missions in Indonesia. They later co-pastored a church in Manitoba where Patricia led the worship team, played piano, served as a hospital chaplain, and, alongside Arnold, pastored weddings, funerals, and provided couples counseling.
In Ontario and BC, Patricia and Arnold worked extensively in the field of addictions recovery, teaching, writing, and directing programs, while offering ministry, counseling, and compassion. Patricia cared profoundly for women overcoming addiction and was deeply respected by those she supported, her colleagues, and her friends.
Later, Patricia and Arnold retired in Kelowna, simply enjoying life together in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Patricia had a zest for learning and a bright, larger than life personality. She was articulate, bold, quick-witted, sassy, and had a fantastic sense of humor. With her sharp mind and radiant presence, she filled every room she entered. Known for her incredible fashion sense, she was always dressed to the nines. One of her fashion secrets was that Arnold often surprised her with new outfits and shoes, a uniquely beautiful part of their 35-year marriage.
At the same time, Patricia carried a deep empathy and passion for people. Whether in a brief encounter or a lifelong relationship, she made others feel seen, heard, understood, and valued. She never forgot a name, a birthday, or the details of someone’s life. Even the most guarded people softened in her presence, often without realizing she was working her quiet magic.
She will be remembered for her integrity, strength, faith, and loving spirit. Patricia gave her whole heart to people, always noticing who needed comfort and offering it freely. She was like a magnificent full-bloomed flower, nurturing others to grow into their potential. Who she was will be expressed and carried forward through the lives she influenced - especially her husband Arnold, her son Samuel, her daughter Annah (Jed Bouscal), and her new grandson Felix Arnold -- multiplying her many gifts and making the world a brighter place.
