Kenneth William Devitt

Ken was born in Saskatoon Saskatchewan to Garnet and Jacqueline Devitt. He attended Brevoort Park, Walter Murray, and the tech for his schooling. Ken was an avid bowler, playing many games and always striving for the perfect one! He enjoyed watching curling, and he was an avid Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and of the Toronto Maple Leafs, never wanting to miss a game. He worked for his parents at the 24 hour gas bar starting at Arlington Texaco and then later for them at Central Esso.

Ken had many family vacations that took him to visit relatives in Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Kelowna. He also travelled to Hawaii and Mexico.

In the summer of 1996, he relocated with his parents to be with the rest of the family who were now living in Kelowna. Ken developed many friendships and spent his time with friends and family. He delivered papers for the Capital News until his accident in January 2015 where he became paralyzed as an incomplete quadriplegic.

Ken found his new home at Connect in Lake country. He thrived there with the care he now required. Connect was like family to him. He took part in many of the activities and the amazing team at Connect saw that he was able to enjoy the many, many things that were important to him, providing him with a rich life, full of attention to the details. These included many outdoor activities and most recent being able to attend the Briar which was a huge highlight for him.

Ken was predeceased by his dad, Garnet Devitt, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and other members of the extended family. He is lovingly remembered by his Mom, Jackie, his sister, Colleen, (Rick); his brother Jeff (Bonnie); niece Jackie (Daryl)and their daughter Elody and Jackie’s stepdaughter Kendall; his nephew Brad, Brad‘s former wife, Nancy and their son Xander, nephew Dan( Bryn), along with extended family and dear friends.

The family is extremely grateful to everyone who cared for him and his many friendships at Connect in Lake Country where he had lived. The family would like to give a special thank you to Patricia who cared for him from the beginning and Carly his life coach and advocate.

Ken was cremated and placed to rest at a private family ceremony at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Kelowna.
