It is with love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Kenneth Campbell Hansen, who passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at the age of 96. Ken spent his final days at David Lloyd Jones Care Home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Ken was born on August 6, 1929, on the family farm near Simmie, Saskatchewan. The fourth of thirteen children, he learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and family from an early age—qualities that remained with him throughout his life. He is survived by his last remaining sibling, Shirley (Ken) Lipsett.
On November 11, 1950, Ken married the love of his life, Jessie. Together they shared nearly 74 wonderful years of marriage until Jessie's passing on August 23, 2024. Shortly after marrying, they made Kelowna their home, where they built a successful auto-body shop while raising their two daughters. After selling the business, Ken and Jessie settled on an acreage in South Kelowna, where they spent many happy years boarding horses, working the farm, and welcoming family and friends. Ken was never one to sit still and was always willing to lend a hand—whether it was helping a neighbour with his tractor, fixing something that needed repair, or sharing his practical knowledge with others.
Ken was a proud father to his two daughters, Donna Parkhurst (Charles) and Cynthia Maeschalck (Robert). Nothing brought him greater happiness than watching his family grow. He was a devoted grandfather to Curtis Harding (Karen), Olivia Harding (Alex), Lowell Harding (Kendra), and Matthew Maeschalck. His greatest joy in later years came from his great-grandchildren: Kohen and Phoenix Harding, and Julianna and Lucas Harding. He took immense pride in each of their accomplishments and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.
Ken was a hardworking man whose life was defined by integrity, humility, and dedication. He found joy in the simple things—a day's work well done, caring for his horses and farm, time spent outdoors, and being surrounded by the people he loved. His quiet yet steadfast loyalty and loving devotion were pillars of strength for his family. He led by example, teaching the importance of honesty, perseverance, kindness, and putting family first. His steady presence, gentle nature, and unwavering character will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at David Lloyd Jones Care Home for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided to Ken during his final months.
Ken leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and family that will continue through the generations he helped shape. Though he is deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that he is once again reunited with Jessie, the love of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Central Okanagan United Church, 721 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC, on August 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
