It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Alvin Fisher at the age of 86 at Hospice House Central Okanagan in Kelowna on September 17, 2026. Larry was surrounded by his loving family as he went peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin Fisher and Helen Hawk, and his brothers, Lyle (Eleanor), Leonard (Laverna) and Lorne.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandra, his son Tal (Ulla), daughter Kim, grandchildren Benjamin, Emma, Christopher, Michael (Nikki) and great-grandchild Obadiah.
Larry was a Saskatchewan boy through and through. Born on the family farm in the village of Attica, by Lanigan, Saskatchewan before moving with his family to Coppen, Bateman, Hodgeville and Saskatoon where, as a young man and while working as a butcher, he met the love of his life and his future wife, Sandra Hill. Larry and Sandra were married in Saskatoon on June 15, 1963.
Larry and Sandra moved to Summerland shortly after being married, where Larry worked as a butcher at the Super-Value in Penticton and Summerland. In 1976 they moved to Princeton where they owned and operated Fishers Meats.
In 1991, Larry and Sandra moved to Kelowna where Larry took care of Evangel Family Manor until his retirement in 2011.
Sports were very much a part of Larry’s life, he was an exceptional athlete, playing hockey and baseball. He was a fan of the Vancouver Canucks, the Toronto Blue Jays and of course the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Larry was a devout Christian, strong in his faith, and long-time member of Kelowna Christian Center Church.
Larry always had an easy smile and a kind word. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother-in-law. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A private interment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery and a celebration of life will be held at Kelowna Christian Center Church on Saturday, October 3, at 2pm.
